Findings
Initial radiograph:
- No evidence of acute cardiopulmonary disease. Thoracic aortic atherosclerosis
Follow up radiograph performed 2 hours later:
- Interval intubation with tip of the endotracheal tube projecting 3 cm above the carina
- Diffuse bilateral patchy airspace and interstitial opacities
- No pleural effusion or pneumothorax
- Normal size and configuration of the cardiopericardial silhouette
Diagnosis
Acute pulmonary edema
Sample Report
First study: No acute cardiopulmonary disease.
Second study: Interval intubation with tip of the endotracheal tube projecting 3 cm above the carina. Development of diffuse bilateral patchy airspace and interstitial opacities, which given abruptness of onset likely represent interstitial and alveolar pulmonary edema. No pleural effusion.
