Chest radiograph

  • Upper lobe predominant bronchiectasis and bronchial wall thickening with patchy peripheral opacities

CT

Chest

  • Bilateral upper lobe predominant bronchiectasis with cylindrical, varicoid, and cystic forms and extensive bronchial wall thickening
  • Multifocal mucous plugging
  • Scattered groundglass opacities and tree-in-bud nodularity
  • Mildly enlarged mediastinal and bilateral hilar lymph nodes

Upper abdomen

  • Splenomegaly

MSK

  • No acute findings

Diagnosis

Cystic fibrosis

Sample Report

Stigmata of cystic fibrosis with bilateral upper lobe predominant bronchiectasis and mucous plugging. Scattered groundglass opacities and tree-in-bud nodularity is concerning for superimposed atypical infection.
