Findings

Lower chest

  • Small hiatal hernia with mild mural thickening of the distal esophagus
  • No acute findings in the visualized lung bases

Abdomen/Pelvis

  • Multiple round and lobular soft tissue density nodules in the left upper quadrant and additional scattered peritoneal nodules with similar imaging characteristics
  • Prior splenectomy
  • Nonobstructing right renal calculi measuring up to 4 mm
  • Right lower pole renal cyst measuring 2 cm
  • Colonic diverticulosis without evidence of acute diverticulitis
  • Atherosclerotic calcification of the abdominal aorta and branch vessels without aneurysm

MSK

  • No acute findings
  • Ventral laparotomy changes

Diagnosis

Splenosis

Sample Report

No acute findings in the abdomen or pelvis.

Scattered peritoneal nodules, most concentrated in the left upper quadrant, which likely represent splenosis in this patient who is status post splenectomy. Peritoneal metastatic implants are considered less likely, though followup imaging should be considered if the patient has a history of malignancy.
