Demographics: 37 years old, Male
Indication: Generalized abdominal pain

Findings

Lower chest

  • No acute findings

Abdomen/Pelvis

  • Massively distending, medially displaced cecum with associated pneumatosis
  • Gas within the ileocolic and superior mesenteric veins extending to the main portal vein and intrahepatic portal branches
  • Subcentimeter hypoattenuating lesion in the right kidney, which is too small to characterize

MSK

  • No acute findings

Diagnosis

Cecal volvulus

Sample Report

Findings consistent with cecal volvulus and associated ischemia evidenced by cecal pneumatosis and portal venous gas. No evidence of perforation. Recommend surgical consultation.
