Findings
- Large left frontal and temporal parenchymal hematomas with surrounding vasogenic edema
- Left to right midline shift with subfalcine herniation as well as left uncal herniation resulting in mass effect on the left aspect of the midbrain
- Small volume hemorrhage layering in the occipital horns of the lateral ventricles
- Surgical changes of left frontal craniotomy with small extra-axial collections along the left posterior cerebral convexity, tentorium, and falx and small volume pneumocephalus
Diagnosis
- Parenchymal hematomas with uncal herniation
Sample Report
Surgical changes of left frontal craniotomy with small extra-axial collections along the left posterior cerebral convexity, tentorium, and falx and small volume pneumocephalus.
Large left frontal and temporal parenchymal hematomas measuring 4.8 x 4 x 4 cm (calculated blood volume 38 mL) and measuring 6.5 x 4 x 5 cm (calculated blood volume 65 mL), respectively, with surrounding vasogenic edema. Resultant 13 mm left to right midline shift with subfalcine herniation as well as left uncal herniation with mass effect on the left aspect of the midbrain. No cerebellar tonsillar herniation.
Small volume hemorrhage layering in the occipital horns of the lateral ventricles without hydrocephalus.
No evidence of acute large vascular territory ischemia. <stroke disclaimer>
